Q: What is excess or deficient energy?

A: Your body has exactly the right amount of energy to function at maximum efficiency. Occasionally some of this energy may be blocked as it flows through the body and may "back up" in some part of the body where it is unneeded. Here it becomes excess energy and is usually registered as pain. Since there is exactly enough energy to go around, if one part has an excess, then another must have a deficiency of energy. The deficiency will be registered as malfunction in that part of the body.

Q: Doctor, is this the same as acupressure?

A: I am sure that the energy with which we are working is the same energy as that which is affected by acupressure. Acupressure...like acupuncture...forces a transfer of energy without giving the body's intelligence the opportunity to decide where the energy is going. In other words, a doctor has made a decision to take some energy from one point and move it to another point. The result may be startling symptomatic relief. However, in bypassing the body's intelligence, another organ or some part of the body may be deprived of its proper energy supply and the patient will, in a few months, develop an entirely different problem. We simply cannot make the decision as to where the energy should go. We can only find out where there is an excess and then allow the body to redistribute this energy in its own priority, where it is most needed by the body.

Q: How long is it going to take for me to start feeling some improvement in my health concerns?

A: Since every office visit entails spending at least 12-15 minutes with the doctor, your progress is reviewed continuously. A holistic program is a very interactive process and the speed of your recovery will depend to a large extent on your own cooperation throughout your treatment. Usually patients have experienced a noticeable improvement in 6 visits. If this has not occurred by this point, your treatment plan will be completely reviewed and other options considered. Patients are usually ready to move on to a maintenance program at 12-18 visits. Our goal is not to make you dependent on our treatment for your continued health success, but to give you the necessary information and resources to take responsibility for your own well-being.

Q: Once I'm balanced, will I stay that way forever?

A: During the course of your treatment you will be receiving information on what we call the six essentials of healthy living: what you eat, what you drink, how you exercise, how you rest, what you breathe, and what you think are all choices that you make every hour of every day. How well you stay balanced depends on the quality of your personal choices in these six areas. Usually some maintenance treatment is desirable, several times a year is probably average.
